BECOME A BELIEVER CITY
Strong cities are built on infrastructure.
Great cities are built on belief.
What Is a Believer City?

A Believer City is a city that chooses to lead with belief, not as a slogan, but as a shared civic value.
Believer Cities intentionally foster encouragement, connection, and hope across public spaces, civic institutions, and community life. They make sure that:

Belief is built into the environment in meaningful, visible ways

People actively and personally invest belief in one another
Why Belief Matters at the City Level
Cities are under pressure in ways that policies alone cannot fix. Belief is not the whole answer, but it helps shape how people treat each other, participate, and carry responsibility for the place they live.

What Cities Are Up Against
- Rising anxiety and isolation
- Youth mental health struggles
- Weaker connection between neighbors
- Eroding trust in institutions

What Belief Helps Create
- More engagement from residents
- Greater pride in the community
- Better treatment of others
- A stronger everyday culture
Belief changes the culture of a city, and culture shapes everything.
What Believer Cities Commit To
There is no required fee to become a Believer City. Participation is based on alignment, leadership support and a willingness to act. Each city engages at a level that makes sense for its size, resources, and goals.
Believer Cities commit to two simple principles, adapted to their unique context.

Make Belief Visible
Believer Cities intentionally place encouragement in public spaces by supporting the Road Signs of Belief initiative. Supporting this effort does not necessarily mean paying for the signs themselves. It means partnering with us to explore whether belief-based roadway signs can be approved in appropriate locations, knowing that the process may take time, collaboration, and possible policy changes.
Examples:
- ✓Working together to explore approval pathways for official Road Signs of Belief on city streets or roadways
- ✓"I BELIEVE IN YOU" signs in parks, libraries, or civic buildings
- ✓Belief messaging integrated into community events
- ✓Support for city ambassadors or community leaders spreading belief

Activate Belief Through Action
Belief must reach people to matter. Believer Cities work with local chapters to host or co-host at least one belief-based initiative or event per year, such as:
- ✓A community belief walk/run where residents cheer each other across the finish line
- ✓Youth encouragement campaigns
- ✓City-wide "Belief Days"
- ✓Recognition of residents who uplift others

A Message to City Leaders
Great cities are not remembered only for what they built. They are remembered for how they made people feel.
When a city publicly says, “We believe in our people,” it does more than communicate support. It creates a culture people can feel. A culture of encouragement. A culture of hope. A culture that reminds people they matter.
Believer Cities choose to leave that kind of legacy.
